The digital technology has improved our business processes. We have been able to develop amazing new products and services. We made our lives and those of others better. But, next to solutions the technology also gave power. Market power and political power. Power that can have an enormous impact on society for good or for bad. The competitive nature of our economy has led to a technology based shake out of the competition. known as the technology run. As a consequence small and medium sized companies are pushed out of the market that is taken over by Big Tech International Companies, with no direct relation to our societies.
 
The entry barriers are set by the technology and are extremely high for new competitors trying to enter the market with new ideas and products. This will eventually lead to very centralized supply in a global market that provide the goods and services to the public, world wide. These companies will represent a set of international norms & values that are free from any local and cultural signature. Furthermore, they do not participate in local economies and their communities. Resulting in an economic energy leak, slowly losing local prosperity and wealth. Which in the end, will lead to the loss of a local production system and consequently loss of local employment and finally a loss of the local stable society.

The gain of power thanks to technology and data also is understood by governments. Fancy functionalities and algorithms provide governments better tools to manage their societies. But these governments may be supporting an acceptable set of values now, they will all be seduced to expand the possibilities of technology by stretching the values and norms, bit by bit. 

Homo Sapiens by nature are opportunistic, risk aware, aggressive, easy to manipulate with stories about paradises, heroes and monsters and hungry for power to stroke the ego. History has proven that power and opportunism lead to corruption or suppression. There is no reason to think this time it will be different.

To avoid local businesses, small and medium sized companies disappearing due to the technology gap. We at Progress as a Mission seek to unite forces. By building a cooperative technical business infrastructure that serves as the canvas of OUR New Economy.

The technology also provides the ability for self governance . Decentralising power back to the society. Avoiding the possibility to be governed by a totalitarian head of state. Now or in the far future. It would be our responsibility to implement and configure the technology to prevent this real possibility from happening. Responsible leadership within our economy represented by SME's, Corporates, Institutions, and Governmental Organisations holds the key to our societies progress. That includes you as an individual member of society, you as leader within your communities including your professional community, You as leader within your society, as leader to your environment including nature and planet.

We see a great sense of urgency given current world affairs. And how we as a society are expected to cope with it and act on it.
For example climate change and our fight against it. 

• What are we exactly trying to accomplish? 
• Why is CO2 the only point of focus to divert the change? 
• Why are we only addressing man made CO2? 
• Why we almost ignore all other solutions that help to fight global warming? 
• How effective are we? 
• And are we actually going to avoid the change? 

Or our current inflation rates. 

• How are we going  to conserve our buying power when interest rates are below the inflation rate? 
• How will inflation be stopped when Central banks are still providing free money to the system? 
• How will we run an economy when households don't earn enough with their fulltime jobs to cover the costs of basic living? 

On our Energy Costs

• On what miracle are we waiting for, when we have to close down businesses because of extreme energy bills? 
• If we can not support our economy because our energy network isn't up to date?
• If the energy transition plan is still not supported by a working plan?

On our Environment

• If we force the agricultural industry to save nature, but we provide licenses to pollute entire biospheres?
• If we save the planet with electric cars that become the enviromental hazzard of the future?

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals 

• If all we see is we are doing worse on these topics day by day. 
• If summits on these topics result in agreements that never seem to meet the desired results.

How are we expected to make a better world by saving nature and rescuing the planet if we are not even able to take care of ourselves? 

The oxygen masks have fallen out of the ceiling. It's time to put them on first, will we ever be able to save the rest of the planet. A call for action is urgent before we become a part of the casualty list. Resulting from the endless stream of crisis's that mostly stem from the man made reality, that supposed to organise our economy and societies. That 6000 year old system isn't supporting our modern technological economies after the Digital Revolution. Which is clearly visible given the challenges we are faced with today. 

Progress as a Mission provides the blueprint of that oxygen mask. Which is a production system in the New Sustainable Digital Economy, fueled by empirical data and digital technology to process it.  As we had envisioned 25 years ago at the start of the Digital Revolution. 
The transformation to that New Economy is going to be bottom up. Therefore we strongly focus on local, national and european SME businesses. We seek for intensive cooperation building a new virtual big business, that is actually made out of independent private businesses cooperating.
